Biography

Ivana Bratić graduated from the University of Zadar in 2003, majoring in English Language and Literature and Italian Language and Literature, thereby earning the titles of Professor of English Language and literature and Professor of Italian Language and Literature. In the last year of her studies, she received a scholarship from the University of Zadar for further education at the Italian University for Foreign Students in Perugia (Università per Stranieri di Perugia), Italy.

In 2005, she completed a vocational master’s degree in International Business Communication (IBC) at the Rome Institute for Entrepreneurship Education (Istituto Romano per la Formazione Imprenditoriale, IRFI).

She gained her first work experience in 2004, working as a teacher of English Language and Literature and Italian Language and Literature at the Economic Administrative Bureau Technical School in Šibenik.

In the period from January to August 2006, she was employed in Šibenik-Knin County as a spokeswoman for the County ofŠibenik-Knin.

In the period from 2006 to 2010, she worked as an external associate of the Polytechnic in Šibenik, teaching English and Italian language courses at the undergraduate professional studies in Management and Administrative Studies.

Since 2010, she has been permanently employed at the Polytechnic in Šibenik as a professor of English and Italian, where she currently works as a senior lecturer.

She is the author of two textbooks called Basic English Grammar and Basic English Grammar: Workbook 1, as well as several scientific and professional articles. In her articles, she deals mainly with sentence analysis, grammatical, stylistic, and etymological peculiarities in the English language, problems of polysemy, as well as the influence of the speaker's cultural background on his linguistic expression and his understanding of a foreign language.

While teaching the courses entrusted to her at the Polytechnic of Šibenik, the professor actively created her own teaching material in the form of exercises and grammar units for easier mastering of English. She participated in the creation of the curriculum, introduced the latest prestigious professional literature from the professional world of business, applied teaching methods of teamwork, independent learning, workshops, encouraged students to develop their own critical thinking and communication together with interdisciplinary skills, which are the key to developing their own personal and professional status in today's global environment and in their own workplace.
