Professional title awarded with the qualification: bachelor (baccalaureus) of economy (bacc.inf.)

After completing the study, students will acquire the following competences to: analyse feasibility of the information system in terms of costs and benefits and develop a business plan of information system development, analyse business area or problem for which one develops application, independently or by collaborating in team, and to collect, analyse and specify user and other relevant requirements (functional and non-functional), analyse market, recognize opportunities and manage customer relationships throughout the application lifecycle, design databases, document development process and application implementation, test results, interpret structure and content of the program code developed in default programming language and developmental environment, create computer programs for reports, inquiries, etc., communicate internally and externally, directly and through the use of modern technologies, encourage, apply and promote professional standards and ethics of IT professionals in the manner and quality of doing business, and regulations related to intellectual property protection, privacy protection, security and data protection, convert default specifications and problem solving models to algorithms, customize the parameterized applications to a specific business situation, apply and use methods, techniques and aids for IT project management, including scope, task, resource and outcome results` management, all in accordance with the plan, methodology and standards applied, apply cost estimation methods and potential benefits from the application of information technology and other business analytical methods, check compliance of information technology with legal and regulatory framework, develop a personal portfolio, network in IT, train lifelong learning, acquire industrial certifications, participate in open-source programs based on distance learning and similar, develop user interfaces and business software components by using input specifications and models and applying modern development tools and environments, including mobile and web technologies, manage capacities and finances for IT services it provides, including time consuming tracking and other resources and accounting and reporting per work order or service level contract.

 

Expected learning outcomes

  1. to analyze the situation, identify opportunities and anticipate the problems encountered by organizations and individuals in the application of information technologies
  2. to define and evaluate process of thinking, planning, decision making and management in terms of electronically supported business and production
  3. to evaluate database design according to business requirements
  4. to evaluate different digital channels in marketing campaigns and create and implement a digital marketing plan
  5. to interpret data flow control, error control and fragmentation, way of multiplexing data transfer using the routing method in computer networks
  6. to properly write and interpret basic concepts in the field of economics of enterprises, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship and properly interpret their interdependence
  7. to select and apply mathematical methods, models and techniques that are appropriate for solving problems in the area of information and business systems
  8. to choose and apply basic principles of career planning and development in one`s profession and own entrepreneurial endeavors
  9. to apply relevant professional literature in Croatian and foreign language, prepare and independently present presentations in Croatian and foreign language for professional and general public, and critically evaluate presented professional topics
  10. to support and apply ethical principles and principles of environmental protection, as well as legal regulations and standards applicable in information technologies
  11. to link the activities of building and maintaining information system with the needs of clients and users
  12. to apply key aspects of information technology (programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, and project management in the field of information technology)
  13. to range security threats and choose appropriate countermeasures to protect the information system
  14. to communicate successfully with clients, users and colleagues using appropriate terminology, including the ability to communicate professionally in a foreign language, both in written and spoken manner
  15. to compare and select appropriate development tools at a professional level
  16. to valorize elevant factors that affect organization`s and individual`s business and apply basic methods and concepts of planning, management and accounting
  17. to conclude what the basic principles and methods of good project management are and work successfully in a team
