Project Description:
The project “Internship as a Path to Employment” is aimed at improving the internship system at the University of Applied Sciences in Šibenik, with the objective of strengthening students’ practical competences and better preparing them for the labour market. The project will improve the organisation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of internships with employers, while further strengthening cooperation between the University and businesses and other labour market stakeholders.
Particular emphasis will be placed on better preparing students for internships, developing the competences of mentors and teaching staff, improving career guidance services and strengthening the alumni community. The project also foresees the development and implementation of a digital tool for internship management and career guidance, which will facilitate communication between students, teaching staff, mentors and employers and enable more efficient monitoring of internship implementation.
Project activities include the implementation of student internships with employers, evaluation of internship quality, career guidance activities and Career Days, development of an alumni mentoring programme, workshops with employers and internship mentors, a study visit to a higher education institution with a well-developed internship system, and professional development for staff of the Career Development Centre.
Through these activities, the University of Applied Sciences in Šibenik will strengthen its institutional capacities for organising high-quality internships and further connect the educational process with the needs of the labour market. The key expected result of the project is increased capacity of the University to implement internships with employers, supported by stronger links between practical skills development, career guidance, digitalisation of processes and cooperation with employers.
