To familiarize students with the basics of anaesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care and the methods of recognition and treatment of life-threatening and intensive care patients. The aim is to enable students to learn in a modern way: to recognise the development of a life-threatening condition, to deal with the cause of death (e.g. to administer resuscitation, to perform resuscitation measures in the event of
cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest), to prevent unwanted complications (shock production, development of infection).

1. describe the development of anaesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care
2. describe types of anaesthesia, anaesthetic procedures, patient preparation for anaesthesia and complications of anaesthesia
3. list the symptoms of a life-threatening patient, including those related to the loss of vital functions
4. demonstrate appropriate procedures for life-threatened patients, including those with life-limiting functions
5. to explain the functioning of the intensive care unit, equipment and treatment procedures for different diagnoses
6. to describe unwanted complications in patients in the intensive care unit (production of shock, development of infection...) and ways of their prevention
7. to explain the types and mechanisms of pain and the procedures for pain management
