To introduce nursing students to the principles and methods of detecting/recognizing infectious and non-infectious diseases and preventing the occurrence and transmission of infectious diseases.

1. explain hygienic-epidemiological concepts and phenomena, as well as methods and approaches in determining the problem
2. explain the causes of certain diseases, as well as methods of their recognition (detection)
3. group and distinguish groups of diseases according to their epidemiological characteristics
4. state the epidemiological characteristics of chronic non-communicable cardiovascular diseases, malignant processes of various origins, mental disorders, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases
5. implement general and specific disease prevention measures
6. explain the influence of environmental factors (food, water, soil, air, light) on human physical and mental health and the influence of society (family, community) on human physical and mental health
