The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic terms of local self-government, to enable an understanding of local self-government in Croatia, but also to understand it comparatively
local self-government in the European Union. The goal of the course is for the student to understand the phenomena and processes that occurred in local self-government, to familiarize them with the Law on Local and Regional Government
self-governance. Also, the goal of the course is to familiarize students with executive institutions that participate in local self-government, and to train students to solve practical problems that can be
appear in local self-government.

1. Define and analyze local self-government and the relationship with other parts of public administration
2. Classify the parts of public administration, and explain common features, similarities and differences between individual types.
3. Interpret the applicable law in local self-government, judge which of the legal solutions offered is the most appropriate for the establishment and organization in a particular city and plan the method of establishment, organization and operation of individual organizations in local communities and counties.
4. To foresee procedures for establishing legally relevant facts and deciding on issues in the field of public administration, and to apply the relevant law to the established facts
5. Choose and use various databases on legal sources, court practice and relevant legal literature when preparing a decision on various legal issues related to public or local self-government
